Hitachi Ltd. and Microsoft Corporation have embarked on a transformative three-year strategic partnership, leveraging generative AI to catalyze business and social innovation. This collaboration is projected to be a multi-billion-dollar venture, aiming to deliver industry solutions that reshape the operational landscape for businesses and society at large.

Integrating Advanced AI into Lumada Solutions

The partnership will see the integration of Microsoft’s cloud services, including Azure Open AI Service, Dynamics 365, and GitHub Copilot, into Hitachi’s Lumada Solutions. This integration is designed to accelerate the growth of the Lumada business, targeting a revenue of 2.65 trillion yen in FY2024, and significantly enhance the productivity of Hitachi Group’s 270,000 employees.

A Commitment to Sustainability and Skilled Workforce Development

In addition to fostering innovation, the alliance prioritizes sustainability and talent development. Hitachi and Microsoft will jointly tackle the environmental impact of data centers and aim to train over 50,000 “GenAI Professionals” in advanced AI skills, underscoring their commitment to a sustainable and skilled future.
